Biography: Halifax’s Tyrone Williams has experienced thrills and success many athletes only dream about. His greatest achievement is winning two coveted Super Bowl rings as a member of the Dallas Cowboys. He is also the only Canadian athlete to win the Vanier Cup (Canadian university championship), Grey Cup (Canadian professional football title), and Super Bowl for American professional supremacy.

Williams was a stand out in basketball and football at Queen Elizabeth High School, was a two-time All-Canadian and four-time Ontario University all-star at the University of Western Ontario. He was also the MVP of the 1989 Vanier Cup which his Mustangs won. In 1992, Tyrone became the first Canadian university football player invited to play in the Senior Bowl, a showcase game for United States college seniors. He scored the game’s only offensive touchdown, raising his profile among professional scouts in both the United States and Canada.

Drafted in the 1st round by the CFL’s Calgary Stampeders, and in the 9th round by the NFL’s Phoenix Cardinals, Williams eventually signed with the Dallas Cowboys and earned his Super Bowl rings in 1992 and 1993.
