Alfred Kirby was from New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. He starred as a top hockey goaltender in the American Hockey League in 1920 and was considered the top goaltender in both the amateur and professional hockey leagues in Nova Scotia.
Aside from being a hockey player, Kirby was also a pitcher for the YMCA baseball clubs. A young pitcher with an abundance of speed, Kirby was known for his great fastball. He was a capable pitcher for the YMCA and rarely gave up a hit.
Kirby is an original Sport Hall of Fame inductee.
