William “Billy” Smith was from Windsor, Nova Scotia. From a very young age, he was an excellent baseball player. In 1887 Billy played baseball for the League Champion Halifax Standards, along with fellow Hall of Famer Robie Davison. In 1902, Billy played with the Springhill Maple Leafs.

Billy is an original Sport Hall of Fame inductee.
