Don Henderson, the patriarch of Brookfield sport, probably spent more time developing all areas of athletic endeavour in Colchester County than with his family and business. No one gave more time to softball and hockey than Don Henderson.

Henderson was a long-time member of the Nova Scotia Softball Association as a regional representative. He did not relax in the winter when the ball equipment was packed away because he contributed just as much to hockey. To commemorate his contribution, the Sportsplex in Brookfield is fittingly named after this great sport builder.
