Foster “Moxie” Dickson was one of the great hockey players to emerge from Pictou County, Nova Scotia. “Moxie” was part of the famed “Six Survivors” who, in 1931-32, went all the way to the Nova Scotia finals against the powerful Halifax Wolverines. Due to improper registration, the New Glasgow Panthers were deprived of key players and were left to compete with one goalie, two defencemen, and three forwards. Dickson scored 50 goals in the Big Four League of 1933 and scored 60 goals in the English Hockey League in 1936.
After retirement as a player, Dickson coached New Glasgow Rangers and New Glasgow Bombers for 15 years. Foster Dickson was inducted into the Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame in 1980.
Dickson passed away in 1980.
