Softball, curling, golf, cricket, and hockey are all sports that benefited from the leadership of Gerry Bauld. An active participant for much of his life, Bauld contributed significantly to the growth and development of sport in Nova Scotia.
Bauld enjoyed his golf games but also spent countless hours as an executive member of the Abercrombie Golf Club and the Nova Scotia Royal and Ancient Golfing Association.
A driving force behind the organization of high school curling, Gerry was secretary and later president of both the Bluenose Curling Club and the Nova Scotia Curling Association. In the early 1920’s, while living in Wolfville, Bauld organized a cricket team.
In softball, Bauld made an outstanding contribution. He was a founding member as well as the first president of the Nova Scotia Softball Association. He is credited with the rapid expansion to fifty-five softball diamonds in Pictou County. As a tribute, Gerry was made Honourary President of the Maritime Softball Association.
