Joe Crockett was from Halifax, Nova Scotia. He played hockey for the Halifax Crescents 1902 Intermediate Hockey team with other greats like George Laidlaw and Stan Bauld. Crockett was a speedy rusher who was always in several mix-ups. He liked to fight, but he still always played magnificently. With his talent for breakaways, he was able to use his terrific shot, and it was not unusual for him to score several goals each game.
Crockett knew how to play the ice well, and always took full advantage of his opportunities, by turning them into goals, in spite of the close checking he endured. After he retired as a player he became one of the best hockey referees in the Maritimes. Joe Crockett is an Original Sport Hall of Fame Inductee.
