Neil Wilkie was from North Sydney, Nova Scotia. He was an excellent hockey winger who was considered to be as good if not better than any other winger in the National Hockey League. Wilkie was one of the biggest stars in the short-lived Maritime Professional League, and while playing for a semi-professional team in Nova Scotia, his team played in an exhibition game against the Montreal Canadiens.

The game resulted in a tied score and Wilkie was one of the best players on the ice. He proved he could hold his own on the ice against any of the NHL players. Neil Wilkie is an Original Sport Hall of Fame Inductee.
