Tyrone Gardiner, a lightweight from Sydney, Nova Scotia, retired undefeated in 1966 as the Canadian Champion after a glorious career. He won the Maritime Title in May 1961 from Halifax’s George Munro, the Eastern Canadian Crown in September 1961 from Rocco Jones of Halifax, and the Canadian Title in October 1963 from Marcel Gendron of Montreal.

Tyrone Gardiner was inducted into the Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame in 1980.
