Vince Horsman is one of only three Nova Scotians to have made it to the major leagues since the turn of the century. These three players played in 151 games.
In September 1984, Vince was signed to the Toronto Blue Jays. He made his major league debut on September 1, 1991 with the Jays at Cleveland. In his five years playing Major League baseball, Vince played 141 games.
His first season with the Oakland Athletics was his best. As a middle reliever, Horsman was 2-1 with a 2.49 earned run average in 58 games. He helped the A’s win their division and go to the playoffs. Horsman also spent 12 years in the minors with five of those at the AAA level.
Vince coached with the Baltimore Orioles for seven years, then worked in the Blue Jays minor system where he is a full-time pitching coach. Working with the Class A Lansing (MI) Lugnuts, he is responsible for developing young arms who will someday be in Toronto.
