OUR EXHIBITS

The Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame has over 150 years of sport history in one place. Our exhibits showcase fascinating facts, inspirational people and incredible stories.

SPORTS ILLUSTRATED: THE NOVA SCOTIA EDITION

His work has been a daily fixture in many Nova Scotians’ lives for decades– Bruce MacKinnon brings humorous, witty and poignant commentary to the pages of The Chronicle Herald with his skillful editorial cartoons. This exhibit, running from July 2019 to July 2020, features a selection of MacKinnon’s sport cartoons. Expect to take a stroll down memory lane with familiar faces and newsworthy events that are equally thought-provoking and amusing.

Check out the Sidney Crosby exhibit to see a few additions courtesy of Bruce MacKinnon, too!

THE SIDNEY CROSBY EXHIBIT

The Sidney Crosby Exhibit at the Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame chronicles the life of one of Nova Scotia’s most beloved sport heroes.

From his days of holding a baby bottle in one hand and a hockey stick in another, to winning the Stanley Cup and Olympic Gold, this exhibit captures Sid the Kid’s road to greatness and is highlighted by the world’s most famous clothes dryer.

TROPHY EXHIBIT

The Hall of Fame shows off a dazzling display of its shiniest hardware covering a broad range of decades, sports and events.

This exhibit representing victory and achievement is anchored by the impressive AVCO hockey cup.

PERMANENT EXHIBITS

The Hall of Fame’s permanent exhibits aim to provide a glimpse into a wide variety of sports and the people who dominated them.

Artifacts and images are rotated throughout the years to continue to showcase the museum’s large collection of sport equipment and memorabilia. You can also find lists of Olympians, World Champions, Olympic medal winners and more.

INDUCTEE WALL

Every Hall of Fame inductee has a place on this wall, where athletes, teams and builders are organized by induction year.

Accompanied by a slideshow of inductee photos, the wall ensures that every Hall of Famer has a place of honour. Computer kiosks directly across from the wall assist you with searching for that long-lost relative or childhood hero.

TEMPORARY EXHIBITS

Throughout the year, the Hall of Fame will explore more specific themes through temporary exhibits commemorating anniversaries, showcasing a certain story or celebrating new additions. Make sure to check out the exterior of the mezzanine entrance when visiting the Scotiabank Centre for a sporting event or concert, as this is where two temporary exhibit cases can be found, including the one that typically houses the display for the most recent class of inductees.

Current temporary displays:

  • Halifax Sport Heritage Walk — The starting point for our new self-guided walk that introduces you to sport heritage sites throughout the city. A variety of artifacts represent several points of interest.
