ABOUT OUR FREE EDUCATION PROGRAM

The Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame has established a FREE province wide Education Program geared at motivating and inspiring our Nova Scotia youth.

THE FUTURE HALL OF FAMERS EDUCATION PROGRAM

The Future Hall of Famers Education Program is aimed at inspiring and motivating our youth by sharing stories of our sport heroes, free of charge, year-round. We focus on positive messages of goal setting, overcoming obstacles, and developing life skills from sport. After hearing these stories, we hope our youth will believe that anything is possible, even if you come from a small province like Nova Scotia.

The current program is tailored for grades 4 to 8 but can be catered to meet the needs for different age groups.

VIRTUAL PRESENTATIONS: JOIN US FOR A HERO CHAT!

Hero Chats are live virtual presentations featuring Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame inductees and Nova Scotia sport heroes. The chats are 35 minutes in length and are hosted by NSSHF CEO Bruce Rainnie. The presentations are Q&A style, and teachers have the opportunity to submit student questions prior to the Hero Chat date. During the chat, Bruce uses student questions from schools across the province as the basis for his interview with the special guest. The Q&A is accompanied by photos and/or short video clips shared during the presentation.

Like the rest of the NSSHF Future Hall of Famers education program, Hero Chats are offered free of charge. Teachers register for the Zoom call and join with their classes from schools all over Nova Scotia. All teachers registered for the Hero Chat Zoom call also receive a recording sent directly to their email. Additionally, the recordings are posted on the NSSHF YouTube channel. You can view our full playlist of Hero Chat videos here.

All grade levels are welcome to register for Hero Chats, but the chats are designed for students in Grades 4-9. Teachers also receive pre- and post-chat activities to do with their classes.

If you are an educator who would like to be added to the email list to receive information on upcoming Hero Chats, please click here to sign up.
