In 1945, the Truro Printing Slugs became the first Truro team ever to win a Maritime championship. They duplicated the feat by again taking the Maritime softball title in 1946 and repeated in 1950 before disbanding in 1951. Four team members were with the club for the three championships – Evelyn Curtis, Joyce McBurnie, Margaret Hepburn and Elizabeth Hepburn. The Slugs dominated their play-off series, winning the title game in 1945 24-3 over Summerside and taking the 1946 series from Charlottetown 17-4 and 22-0.
