Charlie Foley began playing baseball with St. Pats in the Halifax City League long before Nova Scotia’s professional league was formed in 1911. When the professional league was formed, he was chosen as one of the initial members. Charlie played second base in the professional baseball league from 1911 to 1914 where he was not only a classy second baseman, but a very steady and reliable batter.

The Nova Scotia professional league was comprised of teams from Stellarton, Westville, and two teams from Halifax – the Halifax Socials and the Halifax Standards. The professional league folded in 1914 where Charlie moved on to play semi-professional baseball with the Halifax Crescents Club. Charlie is an original Sport Hall of Fame inductee.
