
Wilfred J. “Ace” Foley, the elder statesman of Nova Scotia journalists was the first recipient of the Nova Scotia Sport Heritage Centre Media Award. The award was presented to a member of the media who consistently contributed to the betterment and development of athletics in Nova Scotia. For over 60 years Ace Foley served Nova Scotia with great distinction as a writer, sports editor of the Halifax Chronicle Herald, and as a columnist. He was a writer of objectivity and skill, fostering and preserving Nova Scotia sport culture. Ace Foley was inducted into the Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame in 1982.
