Jack Fraser was a very successful baseball player from the Springhill area. He began his baseball career playing shortstop for the Springhill Fencebusters, where he was known as a player with a “rifle arm”. In 1920, Fraser left the Springhill team and became the catcher for the Stellarton Albions.

Fraser didn’t enjoy being a catcher or playing in Stellarton so he returned to Springhill in 1927. The Springhill Fencebusters, with Jack Fraser back on their team, captured the 1927-1928 Nova Scotia Senior baseball championships and went on to win the Maritime championship that same year.
