Bevil Piers, the Maritimes’ premier badminton player in the 1930s, won the singles title from 1936 through to 1939. The Halifax native won the Canadian Senior Men’s Doubles championship in 1969 with Bud McKnight of Moncton, New Brunswick.
His accomplishments carried over into to tennis as he won provincial mens title in 1930 and mixed doubles title in 1932, 1934 and 1935.
Piers was inducted into the Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame in 1980.
Piers passed away in 1984.
