Clyde Roy was an outstanding pitcher from Westville, Pictou Co. He played with the Stellarton Albions, the Westville Miners, the Halifax Shipyards of the Nova Scotia Senior Baseball League and the Truro Bearcats of the Halifax & District League from 1934 to 1949.
Roy went on to play in the Quebec-New York League in 1947 and 1948 before signing a contract with the Brooklyn Dodgers affiliate, Memphis Chicks. It was an injury to his arm that cut his pro aspirations short. In 1944, a noted sport journalist and Hall-of-Famer Ace Foley wrote, “Clyde Roy is one of the greatest pitchers Nova Scotia has produced in the last ten years.”
Clyde passed away on December 20th, 2009.
