A true builder of sport in Nova Scotia, John Piers of Truro was involved in a variety of athletic endeavours for more than 50 years.

Piers coached and refereed basketball from mini to senior level. He also instructed tennis in Truro for many years and was a major administrator of the Truro Tennis Club. He presided over the Truro Badminton Club as well.
