Mike Henderson, of Brookfield, Nova Scotia, played at the top level of Senior A softball for 17 years from 1974 to 1990. He played on 9 Nova Scotia Senior A Championship teams, including a Nova Scotia team with a record of 6 consecutive wins. He has played in 11 National Championships during an era where only one team represented each province.
Henderson has won a Canadian Championship gold medal, silver medal, and two bronze medals at the National level. He was acclaimed All-Canadian 2nd baseman on 3 occasions, 1977, 1978, and 1984. He represented Canada at the Pan American Games in San Juan where Team Canada won the gold medal. In 1981, he played in the World Games where he lead the Brookfield Elks in batting, played flawlessly, and helped his team capture the bronze medal.
During his career, he was voted the best infielder in Nova Scotia 6 times in a row- 8 times overall. He turned down many invitations to play elsewhere in the softball world so he could stay at home and help lead the Brookfield Elks here in Nova Scotia.
