Tom Mullane was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He was a “leading figure in Halifax athletic circles” for many years, but is especially remembered as the outstanding captain of the Halifax Crescents Hockey Team from 1896-1900. Along with being an excellent hockey player, Tom was also a fierce competitor in many other sports.

Mullane was a member of the Wanderers Amateur Athletic club, the Mayflower Curling Club, and the Robie Street Quoit Club. He had been president of the Progressive Club, a Halifax City Alderman, and the long-time secretary/treasurer of the Nova Scotia Home for Colored Children in Halifax. He retired in 1957 and this lifelong resident of Halifax passed away April 17, 1962 at the age of 87. Tom Mullane is an Original Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame Inductee.
