The 1946 Truro Bearcats Senior Baseball Team won the Nova Scotia baseball championship as an independent entry, after withdrawing from the Halifax & District League following a disagreement with the policy of the league executive. That year, the Bearcats, in a long and drawn-out series of games that ended past the middle of October, eliminated the Halifax & District League champions, the Halifax Shipyards. The Bearcats went on to win the playoff series, defeating Yarmouth, Springhill, and Middleton for the title.

Truro Bearcats Baseball Club 1946 – A star-studded lineup carried Truro to the Maritime Senior Championship in 1946. Hall of Famer Skit Ferguson was the top pitcher (18-1) and the league’s leading hitter; Hall of Famer Clarence Johnson managed the club.
